What Are the Program Requirements for IFDIP Interns?
IFDIP provides graduate students and undergraduate students in their junior or senior year access to apply to a 12-week summer internship with one of the pharmaceutical industry’s prominent corporations. This year, the internship will take place at Nephron Pharmaceuticals headquarters in West Columbia, South Carolina.
Selected interns are required to author an article for ISPE’s PE Magazine.
How Do I Apply?
To apply, download the form and submit your completed application to ISPE Foundation by 11:59PM EST on 06 May 2021. Please note, there are three components to an IFDIP application:
- PDF Application
- Resumé and/or CV
- Video Interview Question Response
PDF Application and Resumé/CV
In order for your application to be considered eligible for review, all required application fields must be completed. Your application and resumé (or CV) must be combined into a single PDF file and reflect the following file naming convention:
- YourLastName YourFirstName IFDIP Nephron Application.pdf
Your application PDF must be emailed to ISPE Foundation no later than 11:59PM EST on 06 May 2021.

Video Interview Question Response
Once your application PDF has been received and processed, you will receive instructions on how to submit your video interview question response. These instructions will be delivered to the email listed on your application form.
Video responses must be capped at two minutes. You may utilize your phone, laptop, or any video-recording device to capture your response. If we do not receive your video response by the stated submission deadline, your application will be considered ineligible for review. Please direct all related inquiries to ISPE Foundation
When Does the Program Take Place?
The internship is a twelve-week program that takes place at Nephron headquarters in West Columbia, South Carolina, beginning in June and lasting through mid-to-late August. Nephron may provide alternate start/end dates, specific to the internship position.
When Will a Decision Be Made on My Application?
The IFDIP Selection Committee will review submitted applications and will refer top applicants to Nephron in early May 2021. Nephron will select and notify their internship recipients in mid-May 2021.
Who Can Apply?
Graduate students and undergraduate students in their junior or senior year enrolled in a degree-seeking program are eligible to apply. Undergraduate applicants should have completed two years of study prior to beginning the program. Students from diverse backgrounds and underrepresented groups who are interested in careers in pharmaceutical manufacturing are encouraged to apply.
Are Recent Graduates Eligible?
If you have graduated from a graduate or undergraduate program within the past 12 months, you may be eligible to apply. Please contact ISPE Foundation for more information.
Is There a Stipend?
Yes. Stipend and/or compensation amounts are determined by our corporate partner and will follow their standard policies.
Can International Students Apply?
Yes, the IFDIP-Nephron program is currently open to international students, U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents.
If I Applied to a Previous IFDIP Cycle, Can I Apply Again?
Yes, we invite applicants to apply if they meet the eligibility requirements.
