Women in Pharma® Mission Statement
ISPE's Women in Pharma® group is a member-exclusive initiative committed to bridging gender, cultural, organizational, and geographic boundaries to maximize the impact women have on the pharmaceutical industry, and their respective communities.
Women in Pharma® aspires to create a pharmaceutical industry that is equitable, inclusive, free of biases and stereotypes, where diversity of thought thrives.
The inclusive community of Women in Pharma® leverages a network of mentors, role models, and resources across all levels to foster balanced professional success.
Gender diversity brings multiple benefits, including an overall increase in business performance, number of customers, revenues, and profits. Companies that allow for gender diversity within the workplace are 15% more likely to experience higher financial returns. Significant research has shown that diverse teams can develop more innovative ideas. When people from different contexts work together, their unique perspectives often lead to greater creativity.
Despite the potential rewards, the pharmaceutical industry is behind the trend to address imbalances in the representation of women and diversity in the workforce.
This dearth of diversity “negatively impacts companies’ performance across the board. More diverse companies are better able to win top talent and improve their customer orientation, employee satisfaction, and decision-making, leading to a virtuous cycle of increasing returns” (McKinsey & Company).
We are dedicated to creating greater equality, opportunity, and corporate success by increasing the number of people from under-represented groups in the pharmaceutical industry. To meet this challenge, ISPE Foundation has established Women in Pharma® to provide professional education and foster mentorship and networking opportunities for women.
Women in Pharma® provides a forum through which women in the pharmaceutical industry can connect and collaborate on technical and career advancement. It also provides opportunities for women to speak on pharma issues, including delivering technical presentations and contributing to panel discussions. A community of Women in Pharma® mentors, resources across all levels, and educational sessions will be an enabler for career success and work-life balance.
Get involved by participating in discussions and sharing ideas while connecting with women from around the world by joining the Women in Pharma Online Community.
The theme for International Women’s Day 2021 is Choose to Challenge. It’s a clear call to action not to accept the status quo and push for change because change moves us forward—as individuals and as a society.
To celebrate, we are proud to spotlight inspiring women from ISPE's Women in Pharma® community who embody the Choose to Challenge mantra and share what it means to them as professionals in the pharmaceutical industry.
We hope they inspire you to celebrate all women's achievements, raise awareness against bias, and take action for equality.
