Impact Story: Remembering Antonio (Tony) R. Moreira, PhD

The ISPE Foundation would like to extend its heartfelt appreciation for Antonio (Tony) R. Moreira, PhD. Tony was an incredible advocate for the ISPE Foundation. Though he is no longer with us, he will be remembered fondly and the impact of his work with the ISPE Foundation will undoubtedly live on.
Tony served as the Board Chair of the ISPE Foundation starting in 2020 and spearheaded many initiatives during his tenure, including the Technology without Borders program. He was also part of the review committee that enabled more than 150 students and recent graduates to participate in the 2023 ISPE Europe Annual Conference, the 2023 ISPE Annual Meeting & Expo, and the 2024 ISPE Europe Annual Conference through the ISPE Foundation Professional Development Grants program.

This International Women’s Day, the ISPE Foundation spoke with Carolina Serrano, the Emerging Leader Chair for NASAAC, who shared more about her passion for Women in Pharma® and how Mentor ISPE came to be. Day to day, Carolina is a Senior Process Control Engineer who is a part of the startup team for Lilly’s new API manufacturing site in Lebanon, Indiana, in support of Lilly’s manufacturing capacity expansion.

In 2023 alone, the ISPE Foundation awarded 150+ students and Emerging Leaders with Professional Development Grants to attend ISPE Conferences. For Mark Crawford, one of the grant recipients, this opportunity was the pivotal moment that determined the trajectory of his career in the pharmaceutical industry.
